Best Management Practices (BMPs) are conservation practices Which prevent chemical runoff during storage and mixing, reduce amounts available for runoff, reduce Soil erosion and water runoff, or trap pesticides before they enter water. Asa result, annual average pesticide detections at levels exceeding drinking ,'water standards can be presented.

* Non-point sources of pesticides, primarily runoff of chemicals absorbed into eroded soil and dissolved ih runoff water, account for the majority of pesticides detected in surface water. Managing pesticide use to address this situation begins with assessing a potential treatment sitelB risk to surface water. Factors fivldh as slope and soil type are considered.
