The Culpeper Minute Men Chapter^ NSDAR, met on Sunday, March 6 "at the Precious Blood Cathohc Church in Culpeper for the annual Awards Tea. f
Honored were seven area studnets with their families from Culpeper, Madison and Rappahannock counties. Three of them were American History Essay Contest winners, a yearly sponsored contest by the
DAR for the 5th, 6th and 7th grades during February, American History month. For were the winners of contest by the DAR for high school seniors.
The Regent, Mrs. Thomas Eastham, welcomed DAR members, students, families and guests to the afternoon ceremony.
Mrs. Michael Garrett, Chairman of the American History Essay Contest gave the topic that the students i were required to use; “Coming to America in Colonial Days, from 1607 tp 1776” and they were to write as if he or she were a colonist. Each students received a Certificate of Achievements and a pin which was pinned on by the winner’s mother. These three were; Dana Ward, 5th grade-Floyd T, Binns Elementary School in Culpeper, Larissa Woloshyn, 6th grade-Wakefield Country Day School, Rappahannock, and Braden Wolfe, 7th grade-Rappahannoek Elementary School. There were over 50 participants in this contest in the three counties. . 'Chairman of the Good Citizens Committee, Mrs. Irvin Kilby, presented the DAR Good Citizens Awards to one senior from each of the county high schools. For this, both facility and senior students con
