Charter Schools

Legislators breathed new life into the charter schools concept last week when a Senate Education and Health Subcommittee heard Sen. J. Brandon Bell's, R-Roanoke, proposal.

This resurrection came after the House Education Committee tabled legislation dealing with the same issue. During the same meeting, delegates supported a proposal to study charter schools for one year in Virginia with the option of setting up a pilot program in one particular locality.
