It is with regret that I feel it is necessary to write this Letter to the Editor to express my extreme concern over the way the Rappahannock News is handling the reporting and editorializing of the Rappahannock Schools budget concerns. 1 am writing this letter to express my anger in what can only be categorized as a flagrant abuse of editorial power.
The article, of w hich you were the author, published on Jan. 4 entitled “Special Education Takes a Growing Part of Schools Resources and Space” was written in such a manner as to lead a reader to believe thdt a few children in the school system were receiving the bulk of the financial and time resources of Rappahannock school teachers, administrators and money. In fact, Ms. Kilpatrick, if one sat down and ran the numbers used in that article, one w;ould find that th^ $750,000 cost of Special Education's computed against the $5,650,000 -total school budget, is approximately 13 percent of the funds.
