Is Extension Saved?
Bills restoring funding to the Extension Service are apparently between $2.6 million and $600,000 short of restoring all that was proposed for cuts in the next fiscal year. Rappahannock citizens are left wondering if we may again lose our agriculture agent.
If this situation continues once the various v ersions of the state budget have been reconciled, the county can only hope Virginia Tech will consider the need for an agent at least as important as his seniority in the system. Last year when cuts were much less severe, apparently seniority was the only consideration.
