The RCHS boys’ varsity basketball team and the junior varsity and varsity volleyball teams each won one and lost one last week.
The basketball team beat Stonewall Jackson by a wide margin, 61-46. Stonewall had beat RCHS the last time they played. Coach Eugene Baltimore said, “We jumped on them from the start and rebounded the ball well. Jason Settle really carried us offensively during the first half.” He also said that the whole team came out and played hard and did what was needed to get the win.
Coach Baltimore was just as pleased with his team in their game against Central, even though RCHS lost, 56-54. Central is second in the district and was on a ten game winning streak, and Coach Baltimore said, “1 was very nervous because they had been blowing people out at home. We went on the road and played that game to the limit.”
Willie Eastham made 12 points and 14 rebounds, and the coach said that everyone else played well too. “Defensively it was great,” he said.
