We would like to thank, the Washington Fire Department for their quick and efficient response to our medical emergency last week. We are truly blessed to have such a professional and knowledgeable team volunteering for us in our community.
Special thanks to Roger Roach, Ann Spieker, Barbara Jamieson and Tyler Haynes. Your effort is truly appreciated and espected. I hope all people will support their local fire and rescue squads. What a great service to have when vou least expect it.

To the Editor:
The Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community gratefully acknowledges the support of the Rappahannock News and everyone else who helped make the Apple Harvest Hoe Down such a success. It was truly a community effort which resulted in a fun and educational evening for all ages.
Sid and Margaret Gottlieb, two of the most dedicated volunteers we have ever met, welcomed Slim Harrison as a guest in their home during his two-day music and dance workshop at Rappahannock Elementary School. Funds generated during the post-workshop hoe-down helped RAAC and the school cover the cost of the workshops.
I.inda Tarry, Joan Herrema, Rick Kohler, and Katherine Treanor created an autumn paradise using hay bales, com stalks, and every thing else they could find. Mountain Green Farm donated several crates of apples which were used for decorating and then given away to guests after the event.
Kids were fascinated by fast-talking auctioneer Bill Payne as he hawked the wonderful home-made desserts contributed by the McCarthy family, Margaret Gottlieb, Eller Manson, Heidi Eastham and others The Barn at the Pogues, a new catering service in Amissville, generously donated a gorgeous chocolate hazelnut prize for the cake walk. Members of the RCES PTO helped out by sell ing refreshments.
Rosa Crocker kept everything organized and on schedule as our liaison with the school curriculum committee. She and principal Raye Tupper made it a pleasure to work with the school, and we hope to cosponsor another event for young people this spring.
Finally, it warmed our hearts tc watch the many fathers, mothers and grandparents who came out to spend time with their children. Everyone who lent a hand can join us in feeling
