Local restaurants are entering into the festive spirit. The Flint Hill Public House will hold an open house from 1 to 3 p.m. The Country Cafe is having an entire colonial menu featuring Brusnwick Stew and Sally Lunn bread. The Washington Volunteer Fire Department is sponsoring its annual Christmas dinner from 5 to 8 p.m.

One of the three performances of the Nutcracker by the Northern Virginia Academy of Ballet is also Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m.

Area Christmas tree farms offer visitors a brisk “cut your own” walk through acres of fir, pine and spruce. Fresh wreaths and roping will be available for purchase at the RAAC information booth.

Festivities end at 9 p.m. with community caroling around a roaring bonfire in the field by the Health Department, we&ther permitting.
