Mr. Orr said thejState Water Control Board would probably not approve such a plan. “The way T understand it is the State Water Control Board has said there is a problem, and they have said in the consent order ‘fix the problem.’ ...The stuff has to go somewhere. If they have to choose between having it go partially treated at the treatment plant or having it go raw in the streets and houses, they will go with partially treated at the plant every time.”
Mr. Johnson said a tank that is working properly should be able to go for several days without pumping, as his has. He said the only places where sewage will back up will be at homes or businesses where the tanks are not tight and additional water enters the system. That would enable the WSA to locate where those places are. He said this would stop the problem of heavy flows siphoning all the tanks in the system, but his motion died or lack of a second.
WSA members decided to have an additional meeting this month. Ms. Chabot agreed to try to have information supporting her request for additional personnel at that meeting.
