Plans Tours
Belle Grove Executive Director, Michael Gore, has announced plans for the celebration of Christmas at the 18th century Middletown plantation. The National Trust for Historic Preservation house museum will be open now through Friday, Dec. 22nd. Hours are 6-9 p.m., Monday through Saturday. The house will be open after Christmas from Dec. 26-29, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $4 for those 13-64; all others are free.
Nine regional florists have participated in this year’s traditional “hanging of the green” at Belle Grove.
Visitors will be greeted by decorations on the south portico which are being designed by Arrangements by Amy of Winchester. They Entry Hall and Library are being decorated by Flowers by Snellings of Winchester and Front Royal. The Parlour is being decorated by DE-Ja’s Florist of Strasburg; the Dining Room, by Shenandoah Florist of Stephens City. Decorations for the Day Sitting Room are being provided by Memory Lane of Front Royal. ,
DeHaven Nursery'; Inc., of Winchester is decking Major Hite’s Plantation Office while the Flower Centers of Winchester and Stephens City decorate the Gold bedroom and The Flower Shop of Winchester decorates the Nursery. Weber’s Florist is supplying Poinsettias to be placed throughout the house.
Christmas musical entertainment will be offered as follows: Latter-day minstrel, Rich Follett, will play guitar and sing Friday the 22nd. John Kovak will play his Folk Harp on Tuesday Dec. 19th and Katherine Engel will sing on Thursday the 21st.
