Department. He said that the water line to the fire house had to be completely reinstalled because there was a main water leak underneath the fire house. The estimate to repair it is $3,500. Mr. Hobson requested that the fire department be able to spend $3,500 now of the $8,000 which they receive annually from the town, and the council approved his request.
Mayor Stewart Willis said that there are two vacant seats on the town’s Planning Commission. The council re-elected Mitzie Young, whose term expired in October; her new term will expire in October, 1999.
He said that a new member also needed to be nominated to replace Louise Van Dort who can no longer be on the Planning Commission because she is on the Town Council. Her term will run through October 1, 1996. Mr. Tompkins nominated Jean Goodine, saying that she would like to serve on either the Planning Commission or the BZA. She was approved by the council for the Planning Commission.
Three new members are needed for the town’s Board of Zoning Appeals. If anyone is interested, they need to write a letter to Diane Bruce, Clerk of the Circuit Court, expressing their interest. New BZA members are appointed to that position by the Circuit Court Judge after an interview with him.
