The RAA has also received donations from the following Community Sponsors: Blue Ridge Orthopedic Association, P.C., Christopher J. Brown, M.D.; John L, Marocchi; William H. Young and Annette J. Young; Settle’s Grocery and Garage; Richard Viguerie and Marlys L. Bromberg.
A very special contribution was received from L.G. Zindel, Inc. Mr. Zindel’s contribution was in memory of the late Boosie Dodson. Mr. Zindel notes that Boosie Dodson was the first baseball coach for his son, Luke. He further notes that Boosie Dodson taught Luke “to have fun and enjoy the game of baseball” and that through his guidance Luke “became an award winning player not just in the Babe Ruth league but in high school as well.” Boosie Dodson, says Butch, “taught sportsmanship which Luke and many others carried through their high school years and continue to do so.”
On behalf of the Rappahannock Athletic Association and the participating families and youth of this community, I thank our sponsors for their generosity. Rappahannock County is an appropriately rural and fiscally conservative county. A by-product of these desirable characteristics is that we lack some of the sports facilities that are available to the youth of the larger counties to our east. Our sponsors’ financial support gives us an opportunity to level the playing field.
As is noted above, we still have a number of sponsor slots available and we therefore welcome additional financial support. Opening day is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, at Stuart Field in Amissville. We invite our sponsors and the community at large to be present on opening day for the beginning of the 1996 RAA baseball season.

I am firmly committed to the theory that our young people are the only crop we raise. Therefore I have always been for the things I considered most important in the raising of this crop. Education and law enforcement are two things I have championed in life.
Like most people, when there seemed to be a problem in either of these categories, I went along with as well as pushed “Throw the money at It.” Looking back at 40 years of this, I see SAT scores lower than they were I started. Crime, compared to today we had none at all back then. I can remember back in the 50s when the Sheriff and his deputy spent a week
