“We were just flying,” Mr. Brown said of the pace. “My horse had a lot of run, btit I saw how easy Summit Point was going, and I thought ‘that horse is just going to run away from me.’”
1 That is not how it happened, though. After getting good fences oyer the third and second last, Latinist accelerated to quarter Summit Point to rise to the final flight together. Latinist got the better of that one, and even'though he was on the outside, Mr. Brown booted him home to a four-length victory.
“It’s just his second start over timber,” Mr. Brown said. “Roy Lariman bred him, and he broke his maiden on the turf at Saratoga, then ran twice over hurdles.”
