Committee to meet
Sperryville Gateway Project Committee will meet at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 26 at the Sperryville fire hall.
Benefit dinner scheduled
A chicken dinner with all the trimmings will be held at the Amissville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company from 5 until 8 p.m. on Saturday,. March 28. Other items on the menu will include mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, com pudding, coleslaw, rolls and homemade desserts. Organization meeting slated
An organizational meeting will be held April 9 from 7 to 8 p.m. for persons involved in Small & Home Based Businesses to explore the possibility of creating a group interested in empowering each other to succeed, sharing ideas, use as a sounding board, share leads, etc.
The first meeting will be used to explore the possibilities based on your needs and what type of structure the group should/would be. Call Ellen at 987-8248 by April 8 if you will be attending or are interested but the date/time does not work for you. Space is limited, call for location and directions. Michael Roberts of the Virginia Cooperative Extension Office in Culpeper has been invited to share his ideas which range from networking to group building to a computer classroom on wheels.
Play to be presented
Wakefield Country Day School at Huntly will present the play “The Wizard of Oz” on Friday, April 3 and Saturday, April 4 at 8 p.m. in the school auditorium. Admission for children is $1.50 and for adults, $2.
Swing lessons to begin
Lindy Hop swing lessons will begin at 7 p.m. on April 4 at the Trinity Episcopal Church. Cost is $2 per person, children are free. For more information call Heidi and Lindsay Eastham at 675-3444.
Applications accepted
Head Start applications are being accepted for the 1998-99 school year for morning pre-school for 3-4 year olds. Head Start provides: an educational experience appropriate for pre-schoolers, health and developmental screenings, opportunities for parent involvement and nutritious meals. Country benefit auction set
Mountain Laurel Montessori School in Front Royal will conduct its third annual country auction starting at 11 a.m. at its co-sponsor Oasis Winery in Hume. Light fare will be provided by the Harvest Cafe in Front Royal. A Princess Diana TY beanie baby donated by Ron and Janet Makela,proprietors of Hackley’s Store in Amissville will be a featured fundraiser for the Rappahannock County High School Athletic Boosters.
