A key partner is the Ragged Mountain Resource Center (RMRC). This local project is a direct result of an earlier meeting last fall hosted by RMRC a& part of it’s “Blue Ridge to the Bay” speaker series at the Rappahannock County Library, where Hal Wiggins addressed the problem of erosion and outlined solutions for streambank restoration.
Volunteers should meet at Mountainside Market, U.S. 211 west of Sperryville, between 9 and 9:30 am. Volunteers need only bring a shovel, rake and bag lunch and participate for the whole session or a portion of the day. “These projects arp an excellent hands-on way to demonstrate stewardship with a long term benefit for water quality” says Hunt Harris, executive director of RMRC “People should come to help and find out more about the opportunities to learn and become involved in a variety df hands-on watershed protection efforts. Citizen involvement is essential to realize water protection all the way from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the Chesapeake Bay.”
