Rappahannock and Madison County High School students took part in a national sexual abstinence campaign when their pledge cards were displayed around the flagpole .at Rappahannock High recently. The display was the culmination of a “Mexican Fiesta” party sponsored by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) at Rappahannock and “Friends to Mom”, an interdenominational Christian group which aids teenage mothers and promotes prevention of teenage pregnancy through abstinence.
The students joined thousands of others in schools across the country who provided an encouragement to sexually abstinent students through the True Love Waits campaign. This event follows the launch of True Love Waits Goes Campus which was held on Valentine’s Day 1997. Groups ordered over 430,000 pledge cards for use in school displays that day.
Students enjoyed a time of games and fun combined with Mexican fiesta food before attending a presentation from volunteers from Warrenton Crisis Pregnancy Center. The three women presented facts on disease, pregnancy and
Passport delays

The Rappahannock County Circuit Court office is experiencing unusually long delays in the issuance of U.S. passports from the State Department and urges anyone with travel plans that require a passport to submit their applications at least six weeks before their departure date, eight weeks would be better.
Applicants should not be mislead by thinking they can go to Washington, D.C. and quickly pick up a passport. For information call Diane Bruce •at the Clerk’s Office, 675-3621.
