Board member Steven Slade told the board members that he would keep them informed on the issue of copyright law now before the Congress. He said it looks as though there may be some compromise reached regarding the matter of doctrine of fair use.
Jeff Light, chair of the Woodville Historic Parade Committee, made a presentation to the library board asking for support or assistance with the celebration Woodville is planning. Shaffer agreed that he could set up a book display for the festival which will be held at the same time and the board agreed to consider the matter further to determine of what assistance it might be.
The treasurer’s report, for the fiscal year end, was received and approved.
The buildings and grounds committee reported that the painting of lines on the parking lot must wait until the fall because the temperature is too high and the paint would not adhere properly. A problem with excess water on the ground near the library’s well prompted a motion, which was approved, to close the drinking fountain in the library until problem was fixed. It turned out the problem was a leaky pipe near the well.
The board approved a motion to have a member of the library’s staff become a notary. Shaffer said he would do it. There will be no charge for the service.
