late as early November, lovely temperate days grace our countryside in iimany areas. Cows still graze in the warmth of the midday sun as a late fall breeze steals tenacious leaves still clinging to nearly bare branches: a lovely pastoral scene, so typical of the virginal beauty in America, untouched by any war for over a century...never soiled by a foreign enemy. Many of our veterans will not experience such scenes as this one. Perhaps some were blinded or deafened or crippled by a grenade or a gunshot. Possibly others are ill due to poisonous gas or germ warfare, a lasting gift from the enemy which may affect their sons and daughters. Still others are wounded
emotionally, functioning marginally or not at all. j
As Veterans' Day appproaches, may we thank (iod that there have been no j foreign invaders on our soil. Concurrently, may we remember those who I sacrificed to make this possible. As we worship this week, let us say a special J prayer for our veterans. W
