to historic sites

Two- different restoration programs have been available since 1997 to property owners in Sperryville’s historic district, but no one yet has taken advantage of them.
John Wells in charge of the Virginia Department of Historic Resources Program in Richmond said that the programs are to identify, document, recognize and protect historic buildings, structures and sites.
He attributed the residents’ lack of participation to their noticing aware of what benefits are available to them.
The federal and state programs were designed to encourage investment in historic building for income-producing purposes including residential rentals and owner-occupied homes. Over the next several years the state tax credits will
