At a joint work session Monday night, the Washington Town Council and the Planning Commission reviewed and refined the revised “Comprehensive Plan for the Town of Washington, Virginia.”
Working session attendance was just sufficient for a quorum, and included Mayor Stu Willis and Council members Steve Critzer, Charles Tompkins and Alice Butler, and Planning Commission members Mitzie Young and Jeanne Butler.
Though the Comprehensive Plan revisions consisted primarily of syntactical and grammatical changes, some of the plan’s policy elements were addressed and modified. No other Washington town residents were in attendance, but a joint Tbwn Council/Planning Commission public hearing on the plan will be scheduled at the August Tbwn Council meeting, and will probably be held in September.
The plan defines the town in terms of character, population, natural features, economic issues, and finances, and addresses town goals, objectives and policies, and serves as a blueprint for town development. The final revisions to the plan were agreed upon at Monday’s session.
