The black snake was Blackie, the black-and-white banded snake was Oreo, and the five-foot albino, since albino animals cannot reproduce, was Terminator. He called for a volunteer to demonstrate how a snake should be held, and Noel Miller came up. She was so small and so calm that we were all encouraged. That was when it seemed that everyone in the room had a snake around his arm or his neck or his waist, or cradled in his cupped hands. And not one single person got bitten, and not one single snake was dropped or hurt.
