The very young Rappahannock Athletic Association softball program took a giant step forward when its 10 and under team took second place in the Virginia Babe Ruth League District 3 tournaments held over the Fourth of July weekend in Greene County, thereby earning a trip to the state tournam >nts in Orange County this year.
The team was led by the home run hitting of first baseman Katie Murphy and pitcher/shortstop Christina Naramore, both of Amissville, in the team’s defeat of tournament powerhouse Madison County.
