1. EDUCATION
As the father of school-aged children I have a strong stake in a successful school system. I wiU vote for a school budget that provides what children need to be successful.
Good schools are worthy of our support But money is not the best way to measure teadershfc in education. Throwing money at a problem and unchecked spending are not the answers to qualify education.
As a father of five children. I know that there are budget limitations. A Supervisor has to balance his responsibility to our school system with what taxpayers can afford With that in mind, I wiU scrutinize the school budget and eliminate all fat that I can find
2. FIRE AND RESCUE SQUAD
Lives and property are saved every year due to the heroic efforts of our volunteer firefighters and rescue squad members. It is vital that these volunteers continue to receive the money, training and support they need
I wffl work to activate community participation in these volunteer programs that are a cornerstone to preserving the traditions and well-being of our community. I encourage you to become a volunteer by calling Fire Chief Roger Roach at 675-3615.
3. LOW TAXES ' y
Fmnot in favorof adding to your tax burden. Many of our senior citizens and struggling young families simply can't afford higher taxes. ,
We have many competing budget needs in our community and we must strike a fair and equitable balance. Working together we can preserve the quality of life we enjoy without breaking any one's back financially or raising taxes.
The biggest complaint I hear from voters is that too much money isspent on school administrative costs. This is the first area 1 will look at when elected Supervisor. V
4. PRESERVING THE BEAUTY OF RAPPAHANNOCK COUNTY
You and 1 owe a debt of gratitude to those people who worked so hard years ago to create laws and ordinances that protect our land and environment If they had not such foresight we could have ended up like Loudoun County, Culpeper County and other areas that have been run over by development
