On Wednesday, Dan and Bessie Norman met with two former Army buddies, Charles Richards (65) of Twinsburg, Ohio and Bill Stafford (64) of Willow, Ala.
They met at the Stony Man Overlook on Skyline Drive. When Dan and Bessie arrived they were able to observe Mr. Stafford witnessing to a person from Michigan about Christ. Mr. Richards and Mr. Stafford were on a mission for Christ and are members of Missionary Alliance. They were carrying an eleven foot cross with the words “Jesus Is Alive.”
They said they had been able to witness to and take pictures with many people along the way. Mr. Richards and Mr. Stafford had hiked from Carlisle, Pa. to Skyland along the Appalachian Trail, approximately 180 miles.
They had been hiking for 20 days and planned to hike another 10 days, approximately another 120 miles or so.
The backpacks they were carrying weighed 80 pounds each. For senior citizens,, these two men were in excellent physical condition.
Dan and Bessie enjoyed visiting and talking to their old friends while dining at Skyland over a scrumptious meal. The blackberry pie was at its best.
Richard Burke and Tim Norman were in the Chesapeake-Norfolk area on business Thursday.
Congratulations to Tim Norman for coming in third place in the apple pie baking contest last week at the Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department’s festival. Tim, I didn’t know you could bake.
Tim, Edie, Samantha and Robert Falls were Thursday evening dinner guests of Misty Hitt and June Clark.
On Friday, June Clark visited with Jean and Wilson Burke at the store in Flint Hill. While there, many of her old friends stopped by for a chat.
