" For those of you who haven’t heard of us, we are the Playground Committee of the Pdrent Teacher Organization (PTO) at Rappahannock County Elementary School.

We have actively held meetings over the pdst two years striving to improve the playgrounds at the elementary school for grades K-7. This has been a joint effort of student representatives, teachers, administration, and volunteers. We have had various fund raisers to accomplish our goals, and we thank all who have responded to those causes!

To date we have improved the existing playground in many ways. We have installed two climbing apparatus, a swing set (with another soon to be ready), two tether balls, several basketball hoops, a multi-hoop pole game and a little tots climbing dinosaur. ' What is still needed is a large play structure that can accommodate an entire class or two at one time. At present we have a fund of just over $10,000. The school board has matched our funds with another $10,000 so we are now close to being ready to make a big purchase for the playground. We can’t wait afty longer.

The castle, built by generous PTO volunteers some yeas back, has been tremendous for our children. The years and much wear
