New 4-H clubs to begin
Do you like the fascinating world of electricity? If you are between the ages of 9 and 19 and would like to join the new 4-H Electricity Project Club, please call the office to sign up. This club will meet after school in the Extension Office once a month.
Also a 4-H Entomology Club will begin meeting after school in the Extension Office on Wednesday, Nov. 10 at 3:30 p.m. Roger Andrews is the new leader for this exciting new club. If you are interested in learning all about bugs, please call the office at 675-3619 to sign up! Children, ages 9-19, can join this group and will meet once a month.
Census testing site selected
Census 2000 testing site will be held at the Rappahannock Library on Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. The event is open to adults 18 and over. For more information call 825-8664.
Flu clinic days set
The Rappahannock County Health Department will offer influenza clinics on the following day: Oct. 28 from 1 to 3 p.m. Flu cost is $7 for general public. Pneumonia (recommended for those over 65) cost is $14 for general public.
Myler Bitting Clinic planned
A Myler Bitting Clinic will be held Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 1 and 2 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Paper Chase Farm near Middleburg. For additional information call The Tack Box at 540-687-3231 or locally at 675-1855. At the clinic learn how to solve bitting problems.
Autumn tennis instruction
Anyone interested in tennis lessons should contact Hunt Harris at the Ragged Mountain Resource Center, 987-3366. He will be offering a limited number of sessions this autumn for adults as well as youth on all levels (beginner through advanced competition). There is a sliding-scale fee system based on the number of participants in a group, and individual instruction is also available.
Storytelling at Ki Theatre
“No Ordinary Person: An Evening of Autobiographical Storytelling” will be presented at Ki Theatre on Nov. 6 at 8 p.m. This is the third year of this highly popular series. The four storytellers this year will be Sallie Morgan (“Night at the Crisco Disco”), Jeanne Drevas (“Mindful Hand”), Joyce Abell (“My Father the Writer”) and Megan Hicks (“Monkey Blood”). This program is jointly sponsored by RAAC and Ki Theatre. Tickets are $10 at the door. For reservations, call RAAC at 675-3193 (please be sure to leave your name and phone number ) or e-mail to jabell@citizen.infi.net. Reservations will be held until 20 minutes before performance time.
Harvest festival at Gourdvine
A harvest festival will be held at Gourdvine Baptist Church on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 6 p.m. Children are invited to attend the fun and games. Refreshments will be served. The church is located on Routh 729. For further information call Pastor John Miller at 937-6001.
4-H Pickin9 Party scheduled
There will be a 4-H Pickin’ Party at the Sperryville fire hall on Friday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. 4-H volunteers will be selling barbecue dinner platters and having a 50/50 raffle as a fund raiser for 4-H. There is no charge for admittance. There will be absolutely no alcohol permitted on the property and no smoking in the building. Everyone is welcome to come and bring his or her voice or instrument and join in the fun! For more information call the Extension Office at 675-3619.
