Chickadees can be trained to

actually eat from your hand. This ^

isn't easily accomplished and^jjj requires lots of patience. You will need at least a week or more to do this, lb get started, go to a distance of about 20 feet from your birdfeeder. You can sit down on a chair if you wish. After about 30 minutes, if you remain still, the chickadees will start returning to your feeder.

Wait until they have been accustomed to your presence before moving up a couple of feet. Once you get within five or 10 feet of your feeder, wait standing up for the chickadees to begin feeding again. When you reach a distance close enough to touch the feeder, you should have sunflower seeds in your outstretched hand. This must be done over the span of several days. Once they get comfortable to having your hand near the feeder, stop for the day.
