The program, now in it's fifth year recently assisted a total of 52 children with their Christmas shopping. In this photo, Deputy J.C. Welch assisted a youngster in the shoe department. Most children chose to buy clothes and necessities along with toys and presents for other members of their families. After the shopping trip the children had breakfast at the Washington Volunteer Fire Department, while volunteers wrapped their gifts at Trinity Episcopal Church. Mr. and Mrs. Claus joined the children for breakfast bringing a stocking and a beanie baby for each child. The children then returned to the Sheriff's Office to pick up their wrapped presents and a large food basket that had been prepared for each family. Captain Jeff Brown heads the program up each year.
