baseball team called the Sperryville Blues. Mr. Kitty was the best short stop and never let a ball get by him. Someone said he was as quick as a cat. Therefore the nickname "Kitty" stayed with him. Most people never knew his real name.
When cars became more plentiful Mr. Kitty bought two Model A s. One for Sunday and the other for delivering the mail. You always knew when the mail coming because it sounded as though his car was falling apart with its rattles and noise.
He wore a coat the year round. His theory was, what keeps the heat in during the winter will keep the heat out in the summer. I nev6r fell for his theory, but then I never tried it either.
