Native Plant Society plans ivalk

The Virginia Native Plant Society, Piedmont Chapter, is inviting residents of Rappahannock County and the surrounding area to a winter nature walk on Sunday, Jan. 14 at 1:30 p.m. The nature walk will be at Wildcat Mountain, which is located near Warrenton. Wildcat Mountain is a registered Nature Conservancy site and unique in its natural vegetation.

"We will be observing trees, shrubs and birds, all in their winter garb," said an organizer. There is no charge for the walk and light refreshments will be served. For details and directions call Bruce Jones at 675-3152.

Rehearsals to begin

The Front Royal Oratorio Society will begin rehearsals for the winter/spring season on Monday, Jan. 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the Front Royal Presbyterian Church. Singers (all voice parts) are invited to join. No auditions required.

Music Director George Amos has announced that the Society's first concerts of the new millennium, to be given in late April, will be a retrospective of great choral works of the masters, including J.S. Bach, George F. Handel, Joseph Haydn, W.A. Mozart, Felix Mendelssohn and Others from the Renaissance through the 20th century. For more information call 662^16.
