This is more than an interruption of a child's social development, it seems. It is also an interruption of the those rather mysterious processes that enable us to learn to perform routine tasks, and to learn how to learn, and to deal with our emotions, and to learn how to value ourselves and to become productive. Those drugs that can provide a high also have their downsides.
