The Washington Town Council started the year with a nearly squabble-free January session, the only area of real contention being the accuracy of last July's meeting minutes. Council member Charlie Tbmpkins provided a version of the minutes of that meeting that he said were accurate and that did not include after-the-fact additions or deletions.
Treasurer Elaine Viguerie, quoting from ":Robert's Rules of Order," suggested that meeting minutes "should not include judgmental statements . . ." and therefore any such statements should be eliminated from the record.
Mr. Tbmpkins posed the question of permissibility of amending minutes after their acceptance to Tbwn Attorney John Bennett, who replied that the "minutes are what is adoptjpd by the majority of the Council." He also agreed with Mrs. Viguerie's reading of "Robert’s Rules of Order," noting that the rules for minutes "contemplate actual actions taken
