Mustang teams.
The Varsity won their opening game 15-3 and then lost the second game by the same score. This set the table for a final tie breaking game to decide the match. After leading the George Mason team 10-2 in the final contest, the Panthers offense stalled and the Lady Mustangs scrambled back in to make it a game.
With the score tied 14 to 14, the Lady Panthers surged ahead for two quick points to win the game, the match, and secure their first District win. After the game Head Coach Stan Brooks, Jr. said, "We stuck together as a team. The girls showed grit and character when they could have folded.
I thought that sophomore, Dawn Andreoni’s consistent play as a passer was one of the keys to our success."
The Junior Varsity girls played extremely well winning their first game 15 to 7, losing the second game 1 5 to 9, but winning the final game 15 to 2 and the match.
JV Coach Susie Zylonis said, "Our serving was the difference. Anna Kreyling, Lindsay Neill-Dore, Ashlyn Paul, Ryisha Cook, and Mattie Nawrocki all served 80 percent or better. If we do that, we're going to be playing for a win in the third game of every match."
However, by the end of the week, the January "blahs" and the cold/flu season hit the volleyball teams as well. A Varsity team decimated by
