The 2000 Amissville Holiday Food and Flower Drive was a
huge success. Many thanks to all that participated to make it so. *
This program which touches over 60 families in our community is co-sponsored by the Amissville Baptist Church, the Amissville Methodist Church, Bethel Baptist Church and the Amissville Ruritan Club. Started many years ago by the Ruritans, the program has expanded for the past ten plus years under the shared sponsorship of our community churches.
Hackley's Country Store, Lom-Bar-Dy Restaurant and Mayhugh's Store, in addition to the various churches, allowed us to put food collection boxes and/or money collection jars in their establishments. It is always heartwarming to see these boxes and jars filled each year. Donations brought to the Community Thanksgiving Service at Bethel Baptist were more generous than ever.
Amy Hitt deserves special thanks for the gift certificate donations she obtained from Food Lion and Safeway this year. Thanks to the generosity of these businesses she was able to purchase all of the turkeys needed for the generous food baskets.
