Wrestling
Rappahannock wrestlers competed in their first Varsity quad on Saturday Jan. 13 at Randolph Macon Academy, St. James Academy* Maryland) and Fishburne Academy (Waynesboro, Va). While the flu and injuries forced four Rapp varsity wrestlers to the sidelines, the squad kept it close in two of the three meets.
Chris Graves had a perfect day with three victories all by pins. Several wrestlers continued to score victories in their second varsity event. Jonathan Robinson *103) had two pins, Houston Haynes (152) pinned in his only match of the day, John Ferdetta (119) won by a technical fall, Stuart Hensley (135), Jeremy Graves (215), and Jeff Scroggins each with one pin.
Bren Miller (130), Gamer Smythe (140) and Jeff Simeon (275) received forfeits. Scoring their first varsity wins were Billy Tucker (125) by pin and Daan Riemeiger (189) by decision.
Team scoring was Rappahannock 18 vs RMA 56, Rappahannock 33 vs Fishburne 46, and Rappahannock 29 vs St. James 48.
