In last week’s Rappahannock News we ran a touching
story of a little girl in the County that was
reunited with her kitten because of a community and its caring people. This past week a similar event occurred in Rappahannock.
Several weeks ago the Rappahannock Loan Closet was notified that they would need to vacate their space at the Old Washington School building. A new location was found on Lee Highway in Sperryville, thanks to the Rappahannock Farm Bureau.
The volunteers called on the Rappahannock Lions Club to assist them with this move. The Loan Closet volunteers were amazed at the help they received.
About a dozen or so Lions Club members arrived with their pickup trucks, helped to pack up, transport and unload wheelchairs, hospital beds, potties, walkers, canes, etc. at the new location.
Members of the Rappahannock Lions Club lived up to their motto, "We Serve" last week. The Rappahannock Loan Closet members and the community at large extends special thanks to all of those that worked so hard to make this move nearly painless.
The Rappahannock Loan Closet provides convalescent equipment to Rappahannock citizens for a threemonth period with the option for renewal. There is never a charge, however donations are always appreciated to help with purchase of additional equipment.
We applaud both the Rappahannock Loan Closet and the Rappahannock Lions Club for their service to this community, which is another fine example of caring for neighbors and friends in a way which too few people experience in this day and age.
