Sheriff Sherertz said the case they built for the arrests is aa very solid case supported by evidence."

Throughout these past eight months, both the sheriffs office and the Virginia State Police jointly conducted "a very aggressive” investigation, said Sheriff Sherertz. He paid tribute to those on his staff who worked with him on the case, especially Sgt. Connie Compton and Sgt. Roger Jenkins. In addition to First Sgt. Dana Crane, Special Agent Daryl Bullens of the Virginia State Police was assigned to the case full time.

“This has been a very aggressive investigation since May,” said Sheriff Sherertz. “I have never seen this many resources brought to bear on what is a property case. . .the number of polygraphs, the number of investigations, the number of manhours, the time and effort.”

“And the laboratory examination of forensic evidence,” added Sgt. Crane.

The sheriff’s office and state police were so intent in trying to solve Montpelier that

determine its suitability as a site for a Tbwn drain field.

• New street lamps and repaired ballasts have been installed and their performance will be assessed over the next few months.

• The Mayor noted that discussions scheduled the "Tower at the Sheriffs Office" has been postponed until the Council's February meeting.

• The Mayor reported that the bronze replacement plaque for the time capsule has been ordered.
