The Commission heard from Zoning Administrator John McCarthy on the status of Sprint PCS' telecommunications facility application. Mr. McCarthy noted that the "activism of the citizens .. . was the cardinal cause” in Sprint PCS' withdrawal of their initial application, and in their current attempt to design "stealth facilities" that will better serve to preserve the Rappahannock aesthetic.
He said that Sprint PCS was now considering various options, among them antenna concealed in silos and church steeples, and he was "satisfied with their good faith efforts” to propose more appropriate facilities in their second application, that he expects some time this spring.
The Commission also discussed work ongoing on a lighting ordinance. Commissioner Thomas Tepper said that the Lighting Committee has "enough reading material thanks to Don Audette
