place allowed the team to bring home RCHS' first ever wrestling trophy.
The team dominated the higher weights, capturing first place individual honors at 189 (Jeff Scroggins), 215 (Jeremy Graves), and 275 (Henry Robertson). Eric Norman (215) took second place honors in that weight class. The other end of the team did a good job as well.
Jonathan Robinson took second and Max Haynes took third at 103 lbs. Bren Miller at 130 and Stuart Hensley at 135 captured second place finishes. The tournament gave several wrestlers their first opportunities at this level of competition. Jonathan Bankston at 112, Andy Propst at 152, and Josh Sager at 160 all scored victories. When the bus hit the school parking lot Saturday night after a long hard day and four matches per man, there was a proud and happy group of young men who got off carrying a nice trophy into the gym, which they proudly presented to the Athletic Director — our first wrestling trophy!

On Saturday, Jan. 20, the recreational indoor soccer league games scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. had to be canceled due to bad road conditions and winter weather advisories. The indoor soccer will continue this Saturday at the same times.
On Sunday, Jan. 21, Softball Coaches Jon Smythe and Richie Burke, assisted by alumni baseball catchers, Perry Breeden and Chuckie Jenkins, continued a working clinic for fast pitch pitchers and catchers.
Assistant Principal Mike Tupper and alumni baseball player Jeff Jenkins, together with former Va. Tbch baseball player, Dean Hahn also conducted the same baseball pitching and catching instruction for the boys. Next Sunday, Jan. 28, all position players are invited out for instruction. Softball and baseball players in grades 6-12 can attend this instruction next Sunday at the Rappahannock High School gym drum 12:30 to 2 p.m. for girls and from 2 to 4 p.m. for boys.
