Volleyball
On Friday, Jan. 19, the Lady Panthers traveled to Clarke County to meet the District-leading Lady Eagles in a volleyball match. The first game started close with both first-servers keeping the serve for four straight points. The girls went back and forth with the Lady eagles seeming to pick up one point before each side out. A four-point serving run by Jessica Skinner put the game out of reach and Clarke won the first contest 15 to 6.
The Lady Panthers refused to fold up however, and fought back in the second game to secure a 15 to 11 victory. Sophomore Dawn Andreoni's serving in this second game was the key to the Lady Panther’s success. This set the stage for a third and deciding final game to determine who would win the match. The Lady Eagles were too good from the service line and the Rapp squad could not keep pace. Clarke County won the final game 15 to 7 and the match two games to one to remain undefeated in the Bull Run District.
The results were very similar for the Junior Varsity team as they were soundly beaten in the first game 15 to 3, just to come back and beat the JV Lady Eagles 15 to 11 in the second game. This also set up a third and deciding game for the match among the JV squads. The JV Lady Panthers got the first two points of the final game and then were overwhelmed by a three-girl scoring surge that finished the game 15 to 3 and gave the match to the JV Lady Eagles two games to one.
The rematch was scheduled for the next day, Saturday, Jan. 20 at the RCHS gym. The 1 p.m. game had to be canceled due to weather as "Ole Man Winter" struck again.
Wrestling
Rappahannock wrestlers had an opportunity to wrestle in a JV tournament at George Mason High School on Saturday, Jan. 20. Head Coach Jim Wells and his assistant, Mr. Randy Propst guided their first-year chargers to an impressive second place performance in the five team tournament. Capturing second
