Fair set
Students of Rappahannock County Middle School and Rappahannock County High School are busy getting their science projects ready for the Rappahannock Science Fair, which will be held on Jan. 25 and 26 at RCES. The public is invited to visit the Science Fair from 1 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25.
Local winners will receive plaques, ribbons and invitations to the Piedmont Regional Science Fair to be held in Charlottesville on March 15.
Senior Division winners at Charlottesville continue on to the State Science Fair and possibly even the International Science Fair.
Across the country, science fairs provide opportunities for students to actually do science themselves, and to show off their achievements. Students plan and carry out an experiment, collect data, and interpret results. The fair is the culmination as students showcase their projects for the judges and the general public.
Awards will be presented to winning students on Friday, Jan. 26 at 2 p.m. In the event of bad weather, the science fair will be held on Feb. 8 and 9. Please check the Rappahannock Schools' voice mail at 987-9316 for any changes.
