Mr. Smith spoke of progress in development of new curricula and processes to support State Standards of Learning requirements. He reported that teacher curriculum guides had been developed for math and social studies, and that work was ongoing in other subject areas. He also said that staff was working on “templates" to standardize instructional practices, that additional efforts were being directed to development of better student performance assessment tools, and that a two day per week extended day program was in place to provide additional help to students.
