• During public comments. Frank Warner asked the Board if they had any plans to produce a new County map that “uses road and street names." Mr. McCartny noted that VDOT does not produce such maps, but that E911 Coordinator Richie Burke has produced a limited number that are distributed to emergency personnel, and Chairman Pete Estes requested that Mr. McCarthy investigate the cost of publishing them.

• The Board agreed to schedule a public hearing in January to discuss the Phase 2 proposal for the Sperryville Gateway project.

• Mr. McCarthy reported that State Department of Environmental Quality financial assurance regulation changes related to landfill closures may impact the County, and he will further investigate the financial implications.

• Mr. McCarthy noted that a recent Department of Corrections report on local jail costs and performance measures may presage a closing of the Rappahannock County jail.

• The Board approved the reappointment of Jim Gannon to the Library Board, the appointment of Debbie Fluornoy to the Social Service Board, and of Richie Burke to the post of Deputy Emergency Services Coordinator.
