Rehearsals to begin

The Front Royal Oratorio Society, directed by George T. Amos, accompanied'by Judy Connelly, will begin rehearsals for its spring concerts Monday, Jan. 6 at 7:30 p.m. at the Fulton Fine Arts Center, Randolph-Macon Academy in Front Royal. The featured works to be prepared will be the Requiem of W.A. Mozart and Gloria by Francis Poulenc.

The society features singers from six counties in Virginia and West Virginia and extends an invitation to singers in Rappahannock to join and participate in the musical season. No auditions ^re required. For more information call 6358709 or 667-0867.

Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration

The 12th Annual Martin Luther King Jr., Celebration will feature Dr. Belle Whelan, Secretary of Education for the Commonwealth as the special guest speaker on Sunday, Jan. 19 at 4:00 p.m.

The celebration will include a community choir. All voices are welcome. For the rehearsal schedule, contact Lillian Aylor, 987-8064.

Additionally, winners of the student essay contest will be announced on the day of the event to be held at The Theatre in Washington, Va. The celebration is sponsored each year by the Julia E. Bodde Schoiarshio Comm tree ot Rappahannock County
