This time of the year is a
good time to reflect upon what is really of value.
For me, the season brings a wistful longing for the quiet of the mountains, snowflakes drifting down through the evergreens, birds fluttering about feeding, deer and other shyer wildlife glimpsed through the bare trees. It brings a longing to be back in the mountains of Rappahannock.
When the future of the county is discussed, it is impor- tant to point out that the lack of development is what appeals to so many of us who love the place, both newcomers, and those former natives like me who think of returning.
