After almost seven years of spending four hours a day commuting back and forth between Washington, D.C., and Amissville, Mrs. Marjorie Vetter finally called it quits. This winter she is among those hearing about traffic jams, not being a part of them. For after 20 years of working for the U. S. Government, she has retired.
A two-week report of traffic incidents in Rappahannock includes a number of minor crashes and collisions. No serious holiday accidents occurred during either of the long weekends.
Trail riding is on with leaps and bounds for 1973. Sunday, Jan. 17 at 1:30 p.m., the Trail Rider’s of Rappahannock will jog out and head for the beautiful all terrain farm of Puller Hughes, Huntly.

The Virginia Department of Emergency Services has issued a cold weather advisory, warning of the danger of severe frostbite from the current cold weather. With wind chills well below zero, unprotected skin may freeze within minutes.
Monday’s first Board of Supervisors meeting of the new year began with a bang—the bang of a trash can lid.
“We re spending $100 a day (to feed prisoners incarcerated in the county jail) and they’re throwing $75 of it in the trash can,” Sheriff John Henry Woodward reported, asking the board to consider adding a kitchen to solve the Sheriff Department’s continuing problems with food service.
Rappahannock County is now playing the last round of Beat the Clock in its continuing effort to find a semi-permanent solution to its trash crisis, and the game remains a cliff hanger.
