Citizens of the
Year 2002
We could not think of a more perfect choice for
this newspaper’s annual Citizen of the Year
award. In this case, it is two citizens, Patrick O’Connell and Reinhardt Lynch, the owners of the Inn at Little Washington. The timing is perfect. This month they celebrate the inn’s 25th anniversary.
We wish to thank you, Mr. O’Connell afi%Mr. Lynch, for your efforts over this quarter of a century— for helping to build this community into what it is today, for hanging in there as they say, and staying, when the going got tough, and for having the vision and dedication necessary to make your dream come true.
The culinary trail you created that brings people to our doorstep to buy at ohr shops, stay at our bed and breakfasts, dine at our restaurants and generally feed our local economy is largely because of the national and world-wide reputation you have achieved.
We want to thank you for your years of service to the town both as a town council member and a member of the architectural review board.
We thank you, too, for the elegant dinners for two you have generously donated for countless charities and fundraisers here as well as the many times you have sponsored events. We all, in town and county, have benefited from your vision and your presence, your dedication, and your passion for excellence.
