Indoor soccer
begins Jan. 5
The Rappahannock Soccer League is hosting indoor soccer pick-up games on Sundays from Jan. 5 through Feb. 23 at Rappahannock County High School.
All children aged 12 and under are invited to attend.
Volunteers are needed to lead the U-10 age group. If you are interested in volunteering, please call Mary Wagoner at 937-7815. The schedule is as follows: U-12 will meet at 1 p.m.; U-8 will meet at 2 p.m.; U-10 will meet at 3 p.m., providing adults have volunteered.
The cost is $20, and includes all sessions. Players do not need to attend every week to enroll.
Sign-up sheets will be available at the gym, and must be signed by a parent or legal guardian. Those who are first timers to RSL need to bring a copy of their birth certificate. All players should wear comfortable clothing, shin guards and tennis shoes. Bring a water bottle. No cleats are allowed.
‘Old People’
ride again
Members of the Piedmont chapter of the Old People’s Riding Club attended the first official OPRC horse trials last month in Maryland. Club district commissioner Betsy Burnett said that OPRC founder Hope Jacobs “produced a friendly, firsttimers horse trials for beginners.”
' ' The OPRC will hold its first official adult pony club “rally” in Maryland in May. Both the Piedmont chapter and Northern Virginia chapter plan to send teams to compete. The Piedmont chapter will have its annual membership meeting Jan. 12 at St. James Episcopal Church in Warrenton. New and prospective members are invited to attend.
The OPRC is set up as an adult “pony club,” a riding club with an education-slanted base. For details call (540) 937-4626.
