had been able to provide some services to Rappahannock County without burdening its taxpayers, but by successfully seeking federal government grants.
He said that the Sheriff’s Office had “secured $350,000 (in federal grants) just in the last year,” and he added that “We’re going to go out and continue to get this money.”
He spoke, too, of recent efforts to begin the process of obtaining accreditation for the Sheriff’s Office. He said that his department would be working with the Virginia Law Enforcement Accreditation Coalition to do so and, if successful, the Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office would join 45 other Virginia law enforcement agencies, out of a total of 130, to have that distinction.
