John R. DeBergh was the purchaser of the tract of land known as the W. G. Wood “Harris Hollow Place” which was sold at public auction at a special commissioner’s sale held on Saturday, April 15 at 11 a m. for the amount of $4,300. This land contains 161 acres and adjoins the farm of Mrs. Elizabeth Debergh and is located about five miles northwest of Washington. Sam Miller, the great-great-great-grandfather of Mr. DeBergh was one of tne previous owners of this tract of land.
R. V. Snead received a telegram Tuesday urging that all citizens of Rappahannock send telegrams to their representatives in Congress to vote for a balanced budget and cut out deficit spending.
The American Legion, with able assistance, planted 65 trees and over 30 forsythia plants Saturday morning along the three roads,out of Sperryville. .
